MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. (April 03, 2014) – The Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment rededicated its Headquarters building today in memory of Lance Corporal Christopher S. Adlesperger among his family, friends, and fellow Marines.  Lance Cpl. Adlesperger, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, paid the ultimate sacrifice to his Nation while serving as a rifleman with Company K, Third Battalion, Fifth Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, First Marine Division, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  Today’s rededication ceremony pays honor to not only Lance Cpl. Adlesperger, but to his gold star family and the Marines who served with him.

The Wounded Warrior Regiment was stood up in April 2007 as the Recovery Care program for the Marine Corps.  Over the last seven years, the Regiment has grown and refined the non-medical recovery care of our wounded, ill, and injured Marines and their family members.  To commemorate the 7th anniversary, the Wounded Warrior Regiment Headquarters building was rededicated to Lance Cpl. Christopher Adlesperger.  The Headquarters building was originally dedicated November 10, 2011 on the anniversary of Lance Cpl. Adlesberger's actions for which he was awarded the Navy Cross.

To truly bring his legacy to life, a professional painting of Lance Corporal Adlesperger was commissioned and placed in the entryway of the Headquarters building.  This painting will serve as a reminder to all who pass through the Wounded Warrior Regiment of the successes that have resulted from the inspiration of Lance Cpl. Adlesberger's actions and those of his brother and sister Marines.  “This re-dedication is a celebration of Christopher’s great, meaningful life… it is also a re-introduction of this brave and selfless Marine not only to his Regiment, but to the many Marines and visitors who enter our headquarters every day” remarked Col. Willard A. Buhl, Wounded Warrior Regiment Commanding Officer.

The rededication and honoring of Lance Cpl. Adlesperger on the seventh anniversary of the formation of the Wounded Warrior Regiment will be a continuing inspiration for all those who serve our wounded, ill, and injured Marines.
