The three days spent in Nashville, TN was nothing short of fantastic. The festivities began Thursdaymorning with a tour of OPERATION STANDDOWN - where vets receive resume preparation training, job training and when needed, a home. Following the visit, the Association paid a visit to the Midshipmen of Vanderbilt University. Fantastic visit!! These students are dedicated and motivated. Nashville President Randy Harris, Executive Director Bob Donaghue and National President Ken Hopper were able to provide some leadership training and mentorship to these young Americans. That evening the Executive Director and the National President hosted a reception attended by many from the Nashville area and members of the Marine Corps League. Fridaymorning we attended a breakfast hosted by OPERATION STANDDOWN. That afternoon we attended the ESGR luncheon where companies from across the great state of Tennessee were honored for their dedication in supporting members of the Guard and Reserve. It was a highlight to have the CG, MFR as the guest speaker. His remarks brought credit to those present, the state of Tennessee, and to all those that have served in the Guard and Reserve. Following the luncheon, we were privileged to have front row seats to witness the power of the Marine Corps - the MAGTF DEMONSTRATION.Saturday had multiple highlights. During the business meeting the CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS for the upcoming year was agreed upon; we elected new Officers and members of the Board of Directors; and were fortunate to have the CG and SgtMaj, MFR provide a brief on the status of the Marine Corps Reserve. It was clear following the briefing where MFR would like the power of the MCRA to assist. Click here for full report.
