11 Oct (Thur)

0800 - 0900: Breakfast at hotel

**0900 - 1000: Travel to National Museum of the Pacific War. ($10.00 entry fee) 

1000 - 1430: tour museum - lunch

1430 - 1530: travel back to San Antonio

1630 - 1715: informal reception at historic Menger Hotel Bar

**1730-1930: River boat dinner cruise (~$40.00 per person, HURRY THIS IS LIMITED 

TO FIRST 40 PEOPLE)

Those not visiting the museum

1000 - 1600: walking tour in historic San Antonio - lunch 

12 Oct (Fri):

0630-0800: Breakfast (on own)

** 0830 - 1130: Tour of Alamo 

1130 - 1230: Lunch at La Pandora (pay on own)

1300 - 1700: MCRA Business meeting: held in hotel

  • 1300: pledge of allegiance & welcome: Exec Dir/National President
  • 1315 – 1345: M-4-L Program: Regional Director 
  • 1345 – 1430: MFR Update: 4thDivision, ADC
  • 1430 – 1500: Communications brief: VP, Communications
  • 1500 – 1515: BREAK
  • 1515 – 1600: Budget brief: Treasurer
  • 1600 – 1630: Update on MCRA TRUST FUNDS: TRUST BOD
  • 1630 – 1700: Review of applicants for Board/Officers positions 
  • 1800 - 2000: MCRA Reception to be held at hotel. 

**Hosted by National Executive Director & President. Wine - beer - soft drinks & hor-douvers will be provided**

2000: Dinner on own

(SPOUSE EVENTS): 

1230 - 1630: "Hop-on/Hop-off bus tour" of San Antonio (price will depend on length of tour ~ $40 - $90)

13 Oct (Sat):

0630-0730: Breakfast (on own)

0730: Depart for Joint Base San Antonio.

** 0800 - 1130:  LEADERSHIP SEMINAR

  • 1st session: VAdm John Bird & MajGen Tim Donovan: will provide their perspective on the security issues the United States is facing in the Pacific. Both Senior Leaders served in the Pacific and have first hand knowledge of the current security environment military forces could face. Additionally, both will address “combat leadership” from the strategic level. 
  • 2d session: Maj Jim Capers & SgtMaj Gene Overstreet: Maj Capers is a "Mustang" being promoted during combat from SSgt to officer, he is also a Silver Star recipient. SgtMaj Overstreet is the 18th SgtMaj of the Marine Corps. Both served in Vietnam & have first hand experience as to the difficult circumstances NCOs/SNCOs will face in actual combat, in combat support bases and how different it is then from peacetime. 

1130~: depart for hotel

1200 - 1300: lunch at Mi Terria (on own)

1300 - 1700: MCRA Business meeting: 

  • 1300 – 1330: Review & voting results for new Officers & BOD Members
  • 1330 – 1400: Results of “By-laws” changes
  • 1400 – 1500: Discussion & final vote on budget for 2019
  • 1500 – 1515: BREAK
  • 1515 – 1730~: Strategic discussion
    • Support to Programs/awards 
    • Selection of next year’s meeting 
    • Discussion on commitment from Officers & BOD members
    • Engagement at State & Marine Corps Council level
    • How to increase membership engagement

1830: Meet at bar for cocktails

1900: Dinner (on own)
